Gathering of Advisory Council and State Council on Aging Members

Posted: 11/1/2006

AAA Advisory Council members from across Washington State met with State Council on Aging representatives at a joint gathering on October 26th in Seattle. Over seventy aging advocates from all over Washington State gathered to discuss current legislative issues, share tips on developing area plans, and strategize to galvanize state and local leadership for an aging summit.

The views from the 40th floor of the Seattle Municipal Tower were spectacular, and the energy and enthusiasm of participants was high.

Members greeted old friends and made new ones among their AAA counterparts from other parts of the state. After a lunch that included fresh apples donated by Aging & Adult Care of Central Washington, attendees rolled up their sleeves and participated in one of three different working sessions.

The gathering was a reminder of the progress that can be made in coming together as an effective statewide force. Stay tuned for materials generated during the working sessions, such as "Advocating Effectively and Quickly" - a two minute elevator pitch for each of W4A's 2007 Legislative Agenda items.
